I am an all or nothing type of person so when I decided to host my very own event for York Fashion Week I knew that it was going to be ambitious, maybe a little bit too much to handle at times but it was either that or nothing – so I went for it. Thank goodness for my new style sister Sara Anson coming on board and its fair to say without her I probably would have quit at some point without her so a big shout out to Sara, I can’t wait to work with you on our next event.

We wanted to create a space to celebrate the best of York’s high street along with giving local female business owners a platform to showcase their brands and amazing products. It was great opportunity for like minded business owners to meet and build new friendships that will hopefully result in future collaborations. Being a self employed business owner has its perks but it can also be tough and sometimes a little lonely. The more we can all get to know and support each other, the better!

After months and months of planning – securing which brands we were going to be working with, finding a venue, recruiting models, hairdressers, sorting screens for backstage, marketing, managing ticket sales, organising a charity fundraiser, table plans, catwalk running orders, drinks along with trying to be mums etc etc etc we were both about to collapse but we were ready to go.

Big thanks to all of our amazing collaborators who hosted pop up boutiques, there was a real buzz and you filled the room with your warmth, professionalism and beautiful products. – Esme Louise, Let It Be Gin, Blank Rose, Mini & Me Wear, Approved.Store.Leeds, Rachel Marie Weddings, Khiels York, Hannah Lauren Millinery, Watson & White & Warrior Tees – THANK YOU.

BEHIND THE SCENES.

Behind the scenes of any big event there is always an army of amazing people dedicated to helping make the event a success. To those of you who helped us behind the scenes we honestly are so grateful so a big shout out to Foz & Giles for the tunes, Charlotte our door lady, our backstage helpers Helen, Pip, Blandine, Deb & Joan for helping set the room up – you are all superstars!

HAIR.

We were lucky enough to be offered the services of Salon 54 to style our models hair – we wanted a variation of looks with plaited styles and slick back looks which they did an incredible job and matched the brief perfectly.

MAKEUP.

Our makeup artists were the super talented Eleanor Jane & Faces By Flo – we asked them to create natural, summer glow looks and they did a fantastic job – thank you ladies.

SHOW TIME.

The aim of the evening was the create a really relaxed feel where all the guests were free to move around, chat and shop the pop ups without feeling that they needed to stay seated to watch the catwalk. we wanted to models to be working the room as if it was a party and hopefully the guests enjoyed a different take on the traditional seated catwalk.

A huge thanks to the amazing models @wearitlikeruth, @fionaharringtonmodel, @incharlotteseyes, Sophie Arundel, Ruth McConnell, Amy, Hannah Young, Natalia, Edeena, Gena and ! You were all sensational and worked the room in style! We really appreciate you giving up your time to be involved in our event.

I hope you enjoy taking a peak through the images of our catwalk featuring Topshop, Etherial (independent brand), Jigsaw, French Connection, What’s Your Skirt (independent brand), Warehouse & LK Bennett. We had so much fun styling the SS19 collections and we hope it provides you with some summer inspo.
