The perfect fitting jeans can tie your whole wardrobe together and make you feel amazing no matter what your shape or size. With so many choices of cuts, washes and lengths out there how do you we know which styles are right for us? I’m sure we’ve all experienced the dreaded “new jeans required” shopping trip and find ourselves completely overwhelmed, throw the towel in and come home with something completely different instead.

To avoid this from happening I’m going to share some of my top denim picks that will hopefully guide you in the right direction of finding the perfect pair of jeans to fit your body shape this Spring. Denim is a huge trend this season and with so much choice out there, knowing what suits you can be a tricky one. My advice is to get out there and just try on a few new shapes as the right pair of jeans is a good place to start when building your Spring wardrobe!

The mom – Topshop Mom Jeans £40 / Also available in petite

Why not update your skinny jeans with something a little different this season? With fashion denim taking a much more relaxed vibe prepare to be a lot cooler and comfier this summer. The Mom jeans are the perfect comfort jean for every day wear, with its relaxed fit and high waist this jean is great for those with an hourglass figure who would like to show off their curves. Style with a tucked in simple T shirt and a studded belt or a cropped knit. Personally I don’t think you can beat a black pair of these bad boys, they are the most flattering colour and go with everything. (Also available in petite)

The Boyfriend – Anthropologie £95

The boyfriend jean works whether you want to keep things ultra-laidback or all dressed up. Though it may appear effortless, the borrowed from the boys look can be challenging to style so try to add some feminine touches such as pretty flats and a ruffly top. I particularly like the slim boyfriend cut of these Anthropologie jeans as they are slightly more feminine than your average boyfriend fit, they can easily be worn in the next size up though if you like them to be even more relaxed.

Wide Leg – M&S £35

The vertical stripes are such a clever design feature elongating the leg and are also a great way of balancing out wider shoulders (inverted triangle body shape) or a larger bust by drawing the eyes to the bottom half but generally I think these will be a great choice for all body shapes. Team with white trainer a simple T shirt and pastel coloured blazer for a laid back day time look.

Barrel Denim – Whistles £95

Wear with ankle boots and a chunky jumper to see out the cold winter months or try a tucked in vest and pumps such as vans or converse or a laid back Summer look. This style is a winner for those lucky enough to have a moderate to longer leg so the crop sits in the right place to show off the on trend frayed hem and the high waist is also great for disguising a tummy.

The Culottes – & Other Stories £59

Embrace the comfort factor of these super relaxed cullottes, keep styling on the more relaxed side but try to get tops fitted around the waist or tucked in so you don’t loose the shape and hide the belt feature. Accessorise with sliders for summer or chunky heeled boots for a more dressy look.

The Skinny – French Connection Rebounds £69

Skinny jeans are going nowhere, my top pick on the high street are the FC rebounds due to the high quality denim sourced from world leading denim manufacturers IKSO. They are a high performing denim and are so comfortable (they are the only skinny jeans I have ever owned where I don’t want to take the off as soon as I get home!) with added stretch but keep their shape at the knee. Available in a wide range of colours)

Levi 501 – £85

Created in 1851 the first pair of blue jeans has stood the test of time. Making a bit of a revival over the last few years this jean will never let you down. Roll up and team with heels for an understated evening look or throw on as your everyday jean of choice.

The Bootcut – Diesel £105

Thanks to the recent 70’s trend and the return of flares the bootcut are back on the scene as a new staple. Perfect for those looking for a smarter and more grown up look and they work wonders for elongating the leg and balancing out curvier thighs.

Maternity – Dungarees – ASOS £42

These maternity dungarees are the best way to be comfortable but still look cool when pregnant, the expandable buttons and elastic at the waist means that these can be worn right through your pregnancy and can be styled in so many different ways by playing around with different tops underneath. Also available in bleach denim.

Maternity – Topshop – £36

There are so many choices out there these days for on trend maternity wear but Topshop maternity jeans win top prize for lots of mums to be. With over the bump and under the bump options it is really just personal preference to which ones you find the most comfortable but you needn’t sacrifice your style! This begging style can be worn under dresses or just styled as you would regular skinny jeans.
